Why Cuba??
Everybody asks me why I wanted to go to Cuba.
Imagine the music, Buena Vista Social Club, dancing, the street
life, the beautiful old buildings. I traveled to Havana to attempt to capture how the people live. What do their houses look like inside? What is it like in their streets, their backyards and their day-to-day life?
Seeking to capture the reality of Havana, I grabbed my cameras and simply walked the streets. Often I was out from before sunrise and stayed out sometimes to well past midnight. People would just
invite me into their homes to meet their families and let me take their pictures.
Most fascinating for me was how much time everybody seemed to have. Often they just spent time outside socializing. It was
amazing how happy everybody was despite the struggle of daily life in a nation exhausted by socialism.
Here then are some slide shows to give you an idea of my impressions of Cuba. Some of the shows are in two
parts so they will load easily.
